Lawrence’s
work has inspired some of the lowest scumbags of this century. Somehow the
damaged brains seem to understand this weird stuff, so if you go to see this
work and say to yourself, “What in Sam Hill is going on?” you’re
definitely not one of them. Someone who pretended to be an art critic for
the New York Times once asked Lawrence, “Just exactly what do you think
you’re doing?” He replied, while pointing to the work, “This.”
